The collection comprises letters from 10 Belgian artists: Henri de Groux, Jean Baptiste Berré, Franz Charlet, Charles Henri Geerts, Edouard Hamman, Hendrik Leys, Stephane Pannemaker, Francois Rouget, Francois Van Severdonck, and Georges Vantongerloo. The subjects include the sale of their works, receipts, invoices, proofs of plates to be published, and works sent to exhibitions. Some letters are accompanied by biographical notes made by dealers. One significant item is a dense four page letter of Henri de Groux, from 1910, in which the artist informs his friend Bernard about the works he has been doing both in painting and in sculpture for the exhibition of 1876. Among the things he is currently working on are an effigy of Dante and studies of Beethoven and Wagner. He wonders if he might finally find a satisfactory studio in Paris.
